Demand is concentrated in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat. Dairy-calf nutrition and aquaculture offer additional growth, while the organized swine sector remains smaller.

Government infrastructure support is notable. The Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund was continued with a revised outlay of ₹29,110.25 crore through FY2025–26. Eligible investments include animal feed plants, dairy and meat infrastructure, veterinary manufacturing and related livestock facilities.

This investment can expand the addressable market by improving feed manufacturing and organized livestock production. Still, adoption will be constrained by price sensitivity, fragmented distribution and variable product quality. Suppliers offering low-dose formulations and locally validated poultry data will have the strongest position.

Japan

Japan is a mature but slower-growing market. Buyers place strong weight on manufacturing consistency, traceability and technical documentation. Adoption is therefore concentrated in well-defined swine, poultry, dairy and premium pet food applications rather than broad commodity feed use.

Japan’s FAMIC system publishes feed-related laws, application procedures, inspection results, analytical methods, manufacturing standards and feed-additive information. This structured oversight raises the importance of documentation and local regulatory support.

The market is likely to remain import-dependent for several specialty ingredients. Local distributors and nutrition companies are important because they provide registration assistance, formulation support and customer access. Growth will come mainly from higher-value products rather than rapid livestock-volume expansion.

South Korea

South Korea has an intensive livestock system, concentrated feed production and a relatively strong appetite for automated farm management. Swine is the most attractive prebiotic application, followed by poultry and premium pet nutrition.

The removal of antibiotic growth promoters from feed created room for alternative gut-health programs. Producers increasingly compare prebiotics with probiotics, acidifiers and other functional additives based on feed conversion and disease-management economics.

Digital farm records and automated feeding systems can support more accurate product evaluation. However, the market remains exposed to imported ingredient costs and currency movement. Suppliers with local trial data and established Korean distribution will outperform companies relying only on international research.

Middle East

The Middle East is relevant because governments and private investors are expanding local poultry, dairy and food-processing capacity. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates lead adoption, while Türkiye and Egypt represent larger regional feed-production markets when the wider Middle East is considered.

Heat stress, imported feed inputs and the need to improve feed efficiency strengthen the case for gut-health additives. Poultry will remain the largest application. Large dairy farms and aquaculture projects create smaller but higher-value opportunities.

In January 2026, JBS stated that it would double output at its new chicken-processing facility in Jeddah by the end of 2026. The facility had already increased the company’s overall Saudi production capacity. This type of downstream investment supports greater demand for commercial feed and performance additives.

Regional funding is mainly linked to food security and domestic production rather than prebiotic research itself. Local trials remain limited, so multinational suppliers frequently rely on distributor-led technical support. Products designed for heat-stressed poultry and dairy cattle have the clearest value proposition.

Expert view: China and India will generate the largest new volumes, while Europe, Japan and the United States will continue to set the standard for evidence, product consistency and premium pricing.

Data-linked nutrition: Feed analysis, microbiome testing, automated feeding and farm-performance software can improve trial accuracy. AI is most useful for identifying formulation combinations and analyzing large datasets. It remains a supporting tool rather than a substitute for controlled animal trials.

Cost and productivity solutions: Low-dose concentrates, stable dry formulations and locally sourced yeast or plant carbohydrate streams can reduce delivered cost. Suppliers that demonstrate savings through feed conversion, mortality reduction or improved weight gain will have greater pricing power.

Market Restraints

Variable biological response: Results can change with animal age, diet, microbial environment, disease pressure and farm management. Positive laboratory outcomes do not always translate into consistent commercial returns.

Regulatory fragmentation: Product classification, permitted claims and registration requirements differ across countries. A formulation accepted as a feed material in one market may require additive authorization in another.
