Germany Heart Transplant Market Analysis, Data & Statistics: (Ventricular Assist Devices, Total Artificial Hearts) States: North Rhine-Westphalia, Bayern, Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Hesse and others
Germany Heart Transplant market size is estimates to be $XX million in 2022. With chronic heart failure comes a decreased quality of life for one in ten Germans over the age of 70. Although heart failure-related mortality has decreased since 1990, the disease’s incidence has been gradually increasing. Heart failure, for instance, is the most common reason for inpatient hospitalization in Germany, where 518 individuals per 100,000 residents required hospital admission due to severe heart failure in 2016. This is 2% more than it was in 2015. Less frequently than men, women are impacted.
Background Chronic heart failure (HF) is linked to severe morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. In this study, the epidemiology of HF in Germany was examined. Methods The German Health Risk Institute provided anonymized information on statutory health insurance holders’ medical claims for this retrospective investigation. Patients with recently discovered HF were located. After the initial diagnosis, patients were followed up for two years. Results 3.96 percent of 3,132,337 eligible patients had HF, making up 123,925 (55.0% of whom were women and had a mean age of 76.2 years). Of these, 26,368 had recently been diagnosed with HF, with a risk incidence of 655/per 100,000 people. Regardless of sex, the incidence was similar and rose with age. Additionally, 5983 newly diagnosed patients (22.7%) and 20,148 total patients (16.3%) both passed away. Office-based doctors diagnosed the majority of new cases of HF (63.2%); internal medicine specialists diagnosed the majority of new cases among hospital inpatients (70.7 percent ). In total, 94.0 percent of patients obtained their initial HF prescription from a family doctor.
Between 2000 and 2017, the in-hospital mortality rate for HF patients remained constant at 38,000 cases annually, or 8.2 percent in 2017. In 2017, HF was the main cause of hospital mortality, accounting for 8.9% of all hospital deaths. Again, for the entire observation period, this proportion was higher in East Germany compared to West Germany. Additionally, more people died in hospitals from HF in East Germany than in West Germany.
Eliminating the risk factors that plague Germany and much of the world is a big effort being made by many people in that country. Certain of the issues some people in the nation are having could be lessened by it. The third and final risk factor in Germany is cigarette smoke, followed by high blood pressure and dietary hazards. Reducing these lifestyle risk factors that could contribute to these illnesses can help keep some diseases on a downward trend.
