Nordic Countries Blood Glucose Monitoring Devices market size is estimates to be $XX million in 2022. The population of Finland is 5.5 million. In Finland, there are roughly 400 000 people with type 2 diabetes and about 50,000 people with type 1. Diabetes affects over 4,000 children under the age of 15. Estimates place the number of type 2 diabetes cases without a diagnosis at 50,000.
Type 2 diabetes holds a significant share in Nordic countries blood glucose monitoring devices market. For example, in Finland, there has been a rise in the number of young persons receiving a Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. Only 43 people under the age of 20 received a diagnosis in 2000, but by 2017, that number has risen to 98. Even while there aren’t many Type 2 diabetes cases, they are rising, especially among people under the age of 20. Since the 2000s, Type 2 diabetes cases have generally increased in Finland.
Globally, the prevalence of type 1 diabetes has risen on average by 3–5% per year. Finland has the highest prevalence of diabetes type 1. The average annual incidence of type 1 diabetes in children under the age of 15 between 2006 and 2011 was 62.5 per 100,000. In Finland, there are roughly 50,000 people with type 1 diabetes overall or 0.9% of the population. They make up roughly 15% of Finland’s frequently diagnosed diabetic cases. The blood glucose level is frequently high in type 1 diabetes. However, the injection of insulin, which is used to control blood sugar levels, may make a person more susceptible to hypoglycemia.
Aged 70 years or older residents of a northern Finnish community were examined for the presence of diabetes mellitus. 78.5 percent of the 483 eligible participants in the study participated. By asking individuals about any past diabetes diagnoses they may have had as well as by doing 2-hour oral glucose tolerance tests by current WHO guidelines, the existence of diabetes mellitus was determined. The 2-hour oral glucose tolerance tests were only administered to subjects who were not using insulin or taking any oral hypoglycemic medications. The prevalence of Type 2 diabetes in the general population was 22.0 percent in men and 28.2 percent in women; the difference between the sexes was not statistically significant. When comparing men between the ages of 70 and 79 to those above 80, the prevalence was higher in the former group.
Obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, and an unhealthy diet are the three most significant modifiable lifestyle-related risk factors for type 2 diabetes. Smoking, lack of sleep, and stress are examples of potentially modifiable risk factors.
